Our leadership / staff

The leadership of Sycamore Creek Church consists of our Staff and Elders. The Staff oversee the day-to-day operations of the church. The Elders help provide spiritual guidance and oversight for the church. 

  • STEVE MARKLE

    LEAD  PASTOR

    Steve has been the Lead Pastor at Sycamore Creek Church since August 2011. Steve has been in full-time pastoral ministry for over 28 years. Steve and his high school sweetheart, Sherri, were married in 1990 and have been blessed with 4 children: Zac (and wife Emily), Tori (and husband Rex), Lexi and Nic. They are now also enjoying life with 2 grandsons! Steve enjoys sports in all aspects- watching, playing and coaching. His favorite teams are the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Baltimore Orioles. He also enjoys a good cup of coffee and spending time with family.

  • Jared Hudson

    Associate Pastor of Worship

    Jared joined the staff as Worship Leader at Sycamore Creek Church in July 2012. He studied Worship Leadership at Liberty University.  Jared and his wife Lisa Kay have two daughters, Audrey and Elsie. The Hudson family also has a very large black lab named Turner.  In his free time, Jared enjoys working on projects, learning new things, and watching sports. He pulls for the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons, and South Carolina Gamecocks... and whoever is playing the Buckeyes.

  • Andrew Johnson

    discipleship Pastor

    Andrew has been the Discipleship Pastor at Sycamore Creek since June 2019. He was previously a student pastor near Cleveland for 13 years. He and his wife, Christen, have two boys, Jesse and Walker. Andrew enjoys guitar playing, traveling, and trying to convince his kids to cheer for the Reds and Bengals.

  • Kristi johnson

    Director of operations

    Kristi joined the staff of Sycamore Creek Church in 1999. Her job is to help get people connected to ministry and others as well as keep the office running like clockwork. Kristi and her high school sweetheart, Terry, married in 1993 and they have 2 sons: Tucker and Brock. Brock battled an unknown auto-immune disease since he was 5 days old and passed away on May 20, 2015. To continue the legacy of Brock through supporting the things he loved, they have established brockstrongfoundation.com.

  • amy shaw

    kidz min DIRECTOR

    Amy joined the staff of Sycamore Creek in 2001. Amy and her husband, Bob, started attending SCC shortly after moving to Pickerington in 1999. She joined the staff just a few short years later. Amy and Bob have 3 children: Rylie, Dylanie and Jazz. In her free time Amy enjoys volleyball, golf and other sports as well as anything creative.

  • Mitch Frost

    Student Ministry Intern

    Mitch joined our team as the Youth Ministry intern in February of 2020. Mitch, who has grown up at Sycamore Creek, is currently a commuter student at Ohio Christian University studying to be a Student Pastor.  Mitch has been actively involved as a volunteer over the past 1.5 years in the Monday night Diversion ministry.

  • Steve LaMar

    Media Coordinator

    Steve LaMar has attended Sycamore Creek Church since 2012. He joined the production team shortly after that. In January of 2020, he joined our team as Media Coordinator. He works on and manages all video content at Sycamore Creek.

  • Greg Frost

    Elder

    Greg and his family began attending Sycamore Creek Church in 1996. In 1997, Greg gave his life to Christ and has served faithfully in many ways over the years. Greg married his wife, Pam, in 1982 and they have 6 children: Alexis, Tommy, Eric, Rex, Mitch and Layne. In his spare time, Greg enjoys playing cards with friends, watching the Reds and Buckeyes, and playing any sport he can.

  • Tommy heater

    ELDER

    Tommy started attending Sycamore Creek Church in 2012 and gave his life to Christ on Easter of that year. Shortly after he joined the Worship Team and is well known for his “avocado guitar” and energizing worship. He currently leads and hosts a small group. Tommy has been blessed with his amazing wife Mindy and two wonderful children, Lexie and Levi. He enjoys laughing with friends and family, sitting by a fireplace, relaxing in nature, and playing golf.

  • Mike Lee

    ELDER

    Mike gave his life to Christ in 2001. In 2007, Mike and his wife Vicki joined Sycamore Creek Church with their two sons, Michael and Alex. Mike has served in various ministries over the years at Sycamore Creek Church. He has also been involved with Kairos Prison Ministry since 2002. In his spare time, Mike enjoys a good round of golf, jogging and taking long bike rides with Vicki.

  • Craig Lescalleet

    ELDER

    Craig accepted Christ in 1981 and has been attending SCC with his family since 2007.  Craig is a 6-year veteran of the U.S. Navy during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. Craig married his wife Genevieve in 1998 and they have 2 children: Zach and Abby. Craig serves on the Security Team along with the Building and Grounds ministries and is currently hosting a small group with his wife Genevieve. In his free time Craig enjoys spending time with his family, being outdoors, a round of golf with friends and family, watching the Buckeyes, Bengals, and Reds.

  • Ron Marshall

    ELDER

    Ron gave his life to Christ in 1971 and started attending Sycamore Creek Church near the very beginning in 1995. Ron and his wife, Barbara, have been married since 1972 and have 4 children: Sarah, Emily, Andy and an adopted son Don. In his free time, Ron enjoys a good hike, gardening, reading a good book and all family activities.

  • Dirk winkler

    ELDER

    Dirk accepted Christ as his Savior when he was 14 and has been attending Sycamore Creek Church since 2008. Dirk has served in a variety of ministries at Sycamore Creek and is currently leading a small group with his wife Lora. Dirk and Lora married in 2010 and are raising three children, Madysen, Ryan and Ava. In his spare time Dirk enjoys the outdoors, Buckeye football, reading and spending time with family.
