F.a.q.

What denomination are you?

We are Christian. We operate as a non-denominational church. We have an affiliation with the Southern Baptist Convention, but we cooperate with other denominational agencies and churches. We choose not to focus on denominations. Our attendees have a wide variety of denominational backgrounds. We have some shared “essential” beliefs (see our “Beliefs” page), but we warmly welcome people from all backgrounds.

What should I wear?

Our dress in general is casual. Jeans are appropriate. You’ll see shorts in the summer. Some people like to dress up a little, so whatever you’re comfortable with is fine.

Is there something for the kids to do?

We have a wonderful staff of volunteers who lead our kids' classes – nursery through 6th grade on Sundays. All those working with the kids have been through background checks, are dedicated to their ministry, and enjoy working with the kids. For quick information about what classes are offered at each service, click here.

How long is the service?

Our services last approximately one hour. The sermons are generally 30-35 minutes in length with about 20-25 minutes of music and announcements.

What is the music like?

Our worship is led by a full band with guitars, drums, keyboards and vocalists. The music is modern, upbeat worship music.

Will I be put on the spot?

No. Our hope is that you feel comfortable and that you enjoy service. We have provided a “CONNECT CARD" in the chair pockets that we’d love for you to fill out with your info. We'll even send you a gift in the mail if you do. You will not be asked to stand, be called out in anyway, and even if you fill out our card, no one will show up at your house. The Lead Pastor is usually available after every service to meet first-time guests.

Will I be pressured at all?

Absolutely not. You will not be pressured to join the church, give us money, or make any commitment – it’s all up to you. You can go at your own pace.

Why does your church look like a box?

The current facility is not the final structure. We have just completed phase #1 (new road entrance, offices, and garage) in the fall of 2016. In the near future, we look to construct a new worship center, lobby and additional parking. Our current facility will become education space for the next generation. Each phase will improve the curb appeal. Our primary focus is not a beautiful structure, but to keep our focus on changing the world by changed lives.

I’ve come a few times and want to get more involved. What now?

We invite you to attend DISCOVER SYCAMORE CREEK where you’ll learn more about the church, how to get involved, and how to become a member. Click here to sign up for the DISCOVER SYCAMORE CREEK.

Who runs the church?

Our desire is for Christ to be the head of our church. To make sure that continues to be the case, we are led by a team of individuals who are all seeking God’s will for the church. Check out our leadership page to meet the leaders at Sycamore Creek.
